While it's not legally required, I've never found a doctor who accepted my insurance and did not require a yearly pap to get birth control. Planned Parenthood is great, but not easily accessible to everyone. I agree that preventative care is important, but why hold birth control hostage to encourage yearly pap smears? We don't do this with ANY other type of preventative care. We don't force men to get yearly prostate/colon exams before prescribing them medication.
